There was some really pretty stuff happening on the train home. The prettiest part was when we woke up in the snowy Cascades, though. I love the Northwest the best…unfortunately it didn’t photograph all that well.
Breakfast and cupcakes with Nick before leaving Chicago on the Empire Builder and heading toward home.
Executed our usual M.O. and walked around all day while the snow came down hard. People were impressed with our resilience.
Hot Doug’s: Mission Accomplished.
While it was still sunny and dry in Chicago, we took the green line down to the University and visited the Robie House. Then we rode up to the Art Institute and got all Ferris Bueller.
Cookie and Lewis are cool dudes.
We took two trains and a bus to Detroit, which made it the most transfer-filled and grueling leg of our trip to date, but it was totally worth it. Rick and Rosa picked us up at the station and took us on a driving tour of the city. We checked out the mansions, a bunch of historical buildings, and the Motown Museum (amazing!). Then we had lunch in Greek Town and took the People Mover over to the Auto Show, which felt like visiting a spaceship convention.
South Street in Philly
We went on a pretty epic long walk through Philly with Jamie and visited lots of old things and new things. Philly is one of my favorite cities for sure.
